Back at last!!!!!

Hey folks, sorry for the delay but normal-ish service is resumed now.

To emphasise the problem the "smaller" shops face, today a flyer for a local "grocery" supermarket arrived, the first three pages cover 30 products that we would stock....a few of them are selling for less than we could BUY them.

The trend seems to be for the customer to be wary with their £'s...and this sort of encroachment from large "grocery" stores certainly doesn't help.

I have to put my hand up and say out of convenience as i live very close to one of the "Biggies", i do spend more than i should there...but i am working on it!

But for every couple of £ spent in the large stores , if we could spend just 1/2 as much in the smaller local stores the effect would be huge!

Hey 2006 is here and i promise i'll get this site updated far more often!

Nice to see a few have posted , those with similar concerns!

I'll soon be putting another Blog dedicated to Clifton Street here in Cardiff, to show the wonders of local shopping.

Bye for now.

A Thought!

If we all spent just a fraction of our shopping budget in the local shops, the benefit to the local traders would be immense.

I spent a good portion of my time yesterday, checking out more local shops, and giving THEM my custom, and surprisingly i spent less than i imagined.

In the Butchers we could pick the cuts we wanted, rather than having Clam Packed goods.

A little goes a long way if you're a little shop!

Spend your ££££££'s LOCALLY

Our Store

As a traditional Ironmongers, we certainly have to face "THE SHEDS" as we know them.

But the number of people who say "We knew you'd have it here",and reveal they've been everywhere else and not found what they were looking for and the try us as a last option is amazing!

Hi: Welcome To You All

Hi.

I decided to start this Blog as it has become more and more apparent to me as a businessman and a consumer, that the individuality of the High street and the local shopping area is dwindling.

I see around me more and more of the BIG stores, with their various incarnations for High Street and smaller streets, and as has been mentioned in the news recently the streets are looking very samey.

As a trader in a small street that so far has none of the BIG supermarket type stores in it, i can see how they can be beneficial by bringing people to the street, but at what cost?
